Tuesday 3rd hour rehearsal!

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break!

What a neat bonus to get a few extra days’ rest.

Thank you to the woodwinds that made the extra effort to come in and work over break, we got some important work done.

Thank you to the trombones and tubas that came in to work near the beginning of break!
Thank you to the trumpets that came in late last week to polish things up.

I am hoping that you took the recommendation to play through the music a few times a week while you had the time.

This performance is upon us in only 11 days.  It will be unlike anything else you have ever experienced.  I want you to get the most out of it and walk away from it with no regrets.

I am being given, with Mr. Mossett’s permission, the ability to ask that anybody that is available to come in and run through the music a few times on Tuesday.

I want you all to be able to sleep in, but hopefully, nobody will be scheduled to work!

If you are at all able, please meet us to run through the music at 11 AM tomorrow.  We will rehearse for about an hour, take a break, then rehearse for another 45 minutes.

As bright as any of us are, there is no amount of “understanding” the music that can replace time actually doing the task.  Nothing replaces dribbling the ball, swimming the strokes, running the miles.  Performing music is unique, though, because it is a nearly balanced combination of physical, intellectual, and emotional effort.

I am excited to see and hear the work you have all accomplished, and I am looking forward to showing all of you off at the performance next monday night and next Friday.

Thanks you again to all of the people that have invested their own time and effort into making yourselves and the band better.
