Performance February 24

Special statement concerning Tuesday night’s concert date:
The weather and the schedule have been a little out-of-the-ordinary, and so I think the proper way to handle this is with an out-of the ordinary presentation. We *will* continue with the performance, but it will take an unusual form.
Students will have more details on Tuesday in class.
We look forward to showing you what we have been working on.
And, yes, there will be jazz band in the morning.

One Call Now

good evening, this is a message from the port huron northern bands

Thank you to everybody that supported the scrapbook fund raiser, even in a small way.  It is one that we rely on heavily to provide opportunities for all of our students, so we are grateful for your participation.

Tonight is  band Booster meeting.  There will be some important information tonight about our next big fundraiser, the travel raffle, as well as information about a potential next guest artist.  Tonight’s meeting will not begin until 7:30.  We hope we can see you there.

Thursday night is a pep band.  Remember that all students are expected to choose one of the pep bands in the 4th marking period.  It is approximately 10-15% of their marking period grade.  If your student would like to earn extra credit, they can do more than one.

Congratulations to all solo and ensemble participants as well as the 40 events that qualified or state.  If your student did not bring in money yet for their state S/E event, please have them do so ASAP.

One Call Now, Saturday, December 6

Thank you to the band families that donated blankets, hats and gloves on Thanksgiving Day.  We got some very nice feedback from the person that helped facilitate the collection and distribution of those donations at a community center in Detroit.

Northern Marching Band.  Tonight is the last performance of the 2014 Northern Marching Band.  Please eat dinner, arrive a little after 4 with small and medium instruments OUT of cases, full uniform, Santa hats and scarves. Don’t forget your Birth certificate, nexxus, passport or enhanced licenses.  All of these are permitted documentation for quick back-and-forth student performances.  More information is at PHNBands.org

Jazz Band performs on Sunday at the Festival of Trees.  Timeline is at PHNBands.org

The holiday concert is December 16 is a “concert blacks” performance.
We are also encouraging a donation of a canned or boxed good for a local pantry.  For each donation, you will get a ticket for drawings for some band apparel and stickers

Because of the incredible busy-ness of the season, the Marching Band banquet will be held the first Tuesday we get back from break at 6 PM.  It will be a nice way to kick off the new year together.

It is a beautiful day for a parade.  All of the information you need for the Sarnia Parade was handed out to the students twice this week and is available on the front page of PHNBands.org.

All band students need to take the online survey.  Links are available at PHNBands.org, in the Twitter feed, and on many of the FaceBook pages

The concert is Tuesday night.  Guys should have taken home their tuxes by now.  If you do not already own one, get the 40% off online coupon for hobby lobby and you can get a tux shirt and bow tie for about $15.  Ladies: all black.  Poinsettias can be picked up after the concert.

Marching Band banquet is Thursday night.  It will again be catered by Chef Shell’s.  Tickets are available in the band room and will be available up through the night of the band concert.  In order to make sure we don’t over purchase or underpurchase food again, banquet tickets will not be available at the door.  Many students have been asking for nicer clothing at their banquets.

Please remember to try to do business with those business that support our bands.  Please also consider signing up for Kroger or Meijer rewards.  More information on both of these topics will be available in the Concert program.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to great parade in the last marching band performance of 2013.
