Color guard audition results

Apologies for the delay in posting color guard audition results.

Any student that can play an instrument is welcome to participate in the marching band.

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate all auditioning candidates onto the color guard squad.  While we are excited at the number of young ladies that expressed interest in the organization, this makes the placement process much more difficult.

The audition process included:
* presentation/performances by members of the guard at each of the middle schools
* many hours or preparation clinics offered at the high school and middle schools
* instruction and feedback offered to individuals and groups during the clinics
* a review session offered the morning of the audition
* auditions viewed singly and in small groups in different combinations
* opportunities to audition several times
* a long post-conference consultation between the band director and members of the audition panel to review strengths and weaknesses of each candidate
* documented recommendations for improvements for any candidate that would like to have them

We can see and understand how invested so many students were in the audition process.  We hope that those candidates that were not placed onto the guard this fall would be interested in learning more about what they could do to improve their skills and audition for the winter guard or next year's guard in marching band.

Next rehearsal is Tuesday, June 25, 9 am - 12 noon.

Listing is at this link.

Edison Elementary is the summer home for northern bands

The color guard will be running their audition clinic on Monday at Thomas Edison elementary from 9 am to 12 noon.

The regular Tuesday rehearsals will begin this Tuesday, June 18, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Color guard auditions will take place that day.  Results will be posted here as well as on bit.ly/phnguard by FRIDAY afternoon (sorry about the change, needed time to review everything).

As with the percussion section, please remember that everybody that can play an instrument, is enrolled in a band class, and participates in marching band camp is welcome in marching band.  Auditions are merely intended to find the best fit for students.  Those students that do not get placed on the guard are guaranteed a spot in the marching band playing their instrument.

Please bring camp payments to the Tuesday rehearsals or mail them to the following address.

Drum Majors

“The most difficult decisions in life are not between ‘right’ and ‘wrong,’ but between ‘right’ and ‘right.’” Dr. Will Peebles, 1989

This year has proven to be a very difficult leadership audition based upon the quality of the individuals involved who are willing to step forward to offer their talents.

After some painful and thoughtful deliberation, the decision that the audition team and I have come to will include Kristi Croteau and Jessica Ankley joining Spencer and Eli as Drum Majors for next year’s marching band.

The entire audition committee agreed that there was not a poor audition among them and that any combination of individuals would have brought something wonderful to our program.

We hope that you would be willing to be considered for other leadership opportunities in our organization both now and in the future.  We hope that you will continue to share your talents with our organization and continue to help us build something of which we have all grown very fond and very proud.
