One Call Now, Wednesday, April 29

Good afternoon!  This is a message from the Northern Bands on Wednesday, April 29

What an exciting weekend for the Northern Bands!  We are hosting almost 30 bands from around Eastern Michigan.  we could use your help in 3 ways:

  1. We are still in desperate need of volunteers.  We will have over 1500 students in our building for the next three days.  Please consider giving us three hours of your time by volunteering to help with concessions or as an Usher.  I understand that some families aren’t in a position to participate in fund raisers. A few hours could make for lighter work for the others that have stepped up.
  2. Please encourage your student to volunteer a shift.  It’s an easy way to contribute to the cause.
  3. If you can’t help with a shift, please consider making a contribution to the bake sale that we run throughout the weekend.  A cake, a tray of cookies, some muffins, rice krispy treats… anything would be a great help.

Freshmen band members should bring their concert black outfits to school.  If there are any problems with any uniform, please let us know by Thursday.  Check your uniform tonight.

As always, parents are encouraged to attend and support the bands at concert and festival performances.  Knowing you are out listening to them really does contribute to the energy of the performance..

The Freshmen will performance will be at 3:50
The Symphonic Band will perform at at 7:00 PM and
The Northern Winds will perform at 8:45

Please volunteer to help at phnbb.com

One Call Now, Wednesday, March 25.

This is a message from the Port Huron Northern Bands.  The text of this message can be found at PHNBands.org.

First, congratulations to the state solo and ensemble events this past weekend.  29 Ones and 10 Twos.  NICE JOB!

Next, we hope that you’ll take the time to see Cinderella this weekend.  It is loaded with band students from onstage talent, to backstage help, to set work, to playing in the Pit Orchestra to helping in the booth.  It is shaping up to be a great show.

Next, please consider either purchasing travel raffle ticket or handing the raffle envelope off to somebody you think might purchase one.

…and the last few announcements are for DC travelers only.

Students were handed a parade release form today.  They need to return this release tomorrow morning.  This release is their ticket to sign up for a bus seat.  If they forgot to bring one home, a link to the form can be found in the Twitter feed, on the front page of PHNBands.org, and on many of the band facebook pages.

We have two parade rehearsals next week, Monday and Thursday immediately after school.

Finally, parent and student must attend a trip meeting next Tuesday, either at 4:30 or at 7:30 PM in the Northern Band room.

Thank you.  It’s a great time to be in the Northern Bands.

I will be at school starting at 7 PM Thursday!

One Call Now

good evening, this is a message from the port huron northern bands

Thank you to everybody that supported the scrapbook fund raiser, even in a small way.  It is one that we rely on heavily to provide opportunities for all of our students, so we are grateful for your participation.

Tonight is  band Booster meeting.  There will be some important information tonight about our next big fundraiser, the travel raffle, as well as information about a potential next guest artist.  Tonight’s meeting will not begin until 7:30.  We hope we can see you there.

Thursday night is a pep band.  Remember that all students are expected to choose one of the pep bands in the 4th marking period.  It is approximately 10-15% of their marking period grade.  If your student would like to earn extra credit, they can do more than one.

Congratulations to all solo and ensemble participants as well as the 40 events that qualified or state.  If your student did not bring in money yet for their state S/E event, please have them do so ASAP.
